Investment banker and philanthropist. He was instrumental in the formation of General Motors (serving briefly as president), and served on the Boston City Council. He also began the campaign to create the Charles River Basin, and Storrow Drive in Boston is named for him. In 1925 he became national president of the Boy Scouts of America.
