After carrying out its bomb run Z6558/EY-H was coned by searchlights, intercepted and shot down by night fighter pilot Oberleutnant Reinhold Knacke of the 2./NJG 1, who was flying a Bf 110 from Venlo airfield. The aircraft crashed at Itteren (Limburg) 5km N of Maastricht, Holland at 0103
