Jacob "Jake" was the son of George and Mary Kemp/Kamp Brenner, natives of Pine Grove, Schuylkill Co. PA. Spelled as Brenner in PA , some began spelling of Branner.

Brothers John David (1858-1906), Charles Edward (1859-1924), William (1864-1922) and James Brenner (1866-?) were all born in PA. Sister Catherine was born in South Bend, IN in 1869 and married John H Seifert in 1891. She passed in 1952.

Their uncle, Benjamin Eckler, came to South Bend from Pine Grove with his daughter, Louisa Eckler (Michael Moritz) and was living with them in his retirement. Several of the adult Ecklers had located to South Bend by the mid 1860's.

Jacob was married to Lena (or Lura) Mae Gruber on July 1, 1900. Cannot see a Death for her. Jacob passed on March 3, 1944, at the age of 77 and was buried at Lakeville Cemetery - South of South Bend.
