Donald Monroe Erskine, 90, Anderson, died Feb. 1, 2007, at Rawlins House in Pendleton.


He was born March 6, 1916, in Anderson, and attended Anderson High School later moving to New Orleans in the 1950's. He resided there until moving back to Anderson in 2002.


Donald worked for the U.S. Postal Telegraph, Taxi, Delco Remy, manager of Anderson Camera Shop; cargo supervisor for Eastern Airlines; New Orleans Airport where he retired.


He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aerial photographer in the South Pacific on the USS Kenneth Whiting. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.


Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Betty Erskine of Anderson; nephews, Dan Erskine, Gary Erskine and Jimmy Erskine; a niece, Susan Short; two stepdaughters, Rita Williams of Gainesville, Fla., and Marion Hernandez of Tampa, Fla.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Muriel Erskine; his parents, Matthew and Bertha (Davis) Erskine; and a brother, Lloyd Erskine.


A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Art Jaggard of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans, La.


Memorial contributions may be given to Special Olympics or the charity of the donor's choice.
