Spc. Charles Leonard of Monroe, La., deployed to Iraq in October 2006. His military awards and decorations include the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Leonard, Sr. great-grandmother, Granny Berry; grandparents, Vernon E. Ingles, Sr. and Mary Lou Ingles. Charlie died in Baghdad when his vehicle was struck by a rocket propelled grenade at age 29.
