One of the last presidents of the remnant Associate Presbyterian Church which comprised congregations in the old Associate Presbyterian Church that refused to participate in the merger that formed the United Presbyterian Church in 1856.

VETERAN PASTOR TO BE BURIED HERE

REV. H. S. ATCHISON DIED SUNDAY AT BEAVER FALLS — FUNERAL WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for Rev. H. S. Atchison, an aged minister of the Associate Presbyterian church who served his denomination for more than a half century, will be held at the Sherman funeral home Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery by the side of his wife, who died a few years ago at Fairfield while visiting her daughter there. The funeral party is expected at 5:30 tomorrow evening.

Mr. Atchison died early Sunday morning at his home in Beaver Falls, Pa., where he had been seriously ill for the last month, suffering from a paralytic stroke. He was 83 years old and had been active in his work as a minister until a few years ago.

For a number of years Mr. Atchison was pastor of a country church near Albia, and while there became acquainted with a large number of Washington people, especially those connected with the local Associate Presbyterian church. He had a number of relatives here.

Surviving him are four children, John Atchison, resident of Washington for a number of years and now of Fairfield; Mrs. Bruce Gobble of Fairfield; Miss Alice Atchison, who made her home with her father; and Rev. R. K. Atchison of Rimersburg, Pa. There are two brothers, William G. Atchison, who has been with his brother at Beaver Falls this last winter, and C. C. Atchison of Los Angeles. R. B. Atchison, another brother, died two years ago and was brought here for burial.
