PAULINE SAFKA BERTOLO, 77, LONG BRANCH, died Sunday, Nov. 9, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was the proprietor of Paint-in-Place, Eatontown, for 25 years, retiring in 1985. In addition, she was a recording artist, singing jazz and blues alongside her husband, Sal. She also volunteered at the Fort Monmouth Thrift Shop and received the Volunteer of the Year award. Born in Chelsea, Mass., she lived in Bayside, Queens, before moving to Long Branch 35 years ago.
Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Salvatore P. Bertolo; two daughters, Melanie Schekeryk of Florida, and Stephanie Safka of White Hall, N.Y.; a brother, George E. Altomare of Long Branch, a sister, Jeanne Iarrobino of Carmel, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Leilah, Jeordie, and Beau Jarred; and two great-grandchildren, Christiana and Anna Lisa.
