Survived by his wife, Margaret; son Tosten-who would follow his father in death nine days later; daughter, Brenda; and two granddaughters, Heather & Ann. Also survived by several siblings, including Bertha Thompson White. Preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Allie Kidd Thompson.
He served in the U.S. Navy 1941-1965; during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
At the time of his death he worked in the appliance department of Montgomery Wards. When we went to see him at work, we would walk to The Village Bakery for gingerbread cookies.
He had two large gardens that he loved to work in: one at his house and one at our's. I remember riding to & from school in the back of his truck, how he used to tell us that we "stank pretty" when we had perfume on. When we spent the night with him & Granny, we always slept in his undershirt. They seemed so huge then but fit just fine now!
I miss him so much!
Meredith, the kindness you have shown brings a tear to my eye. Thank you isn't adequate but it's all I can think of to say.
