Bill Jones of the Johnstown Tribune wrote a detailed article on Dick Clossin who had both parents pass away when he was very young. Dick Clossin would work with Bill Jones at the newspaper and they would also both join the Army. Dick was born in 1836 and his mother would pass away soon after giving birth to his sister the following year. His mother was a widow with young children when she married David Lindsey Sr., his father. He was a widower also with young children. David Lindsey died in 1837 and his grandmother, Janet Plender Geddes Clossin also died the same year. From the article written by Jones, "School was kid's rescuer," Dick's two older brothers, Bob and Bill, were taking care of him when they decided to send Dick to Girard College which took in boys between 7 and 10 which gave Dick an education as well a providing food and shelter. It was founded by the will of Stephen Gerard as a school for poor orphan boys. Dick Clossin would go on to work for the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat and joined the army in 1952 along with Bill Jones, and Ray Knapp. Dick eventually became a reporter in Pittsburgh at the McKeesport Daily News. He became the press secretary for Rep. Joseph Gaydos for 24 years which he was very proud to work for.
