Dewey Thomas Wiseman, 58, of Sweetwater, died Monday, March 20, 2006, at Ft. Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville after a sudden illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Sweetwater, he was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Willie Wiseman; two brothers, Donny Wiseman and Clarence Barnett; and his father-in-law, Bobby Ray Frye. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed by National Seating Company in Vonore. He was an outdoorsman and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He liked to read and was especially fond of local history and Civil War history. He loved spending time surrounded by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Barbara Frye Wiseman of Sweetwater; two sons and one daughter-in-law, John Wiseman of Sweetwater, and Craig and Sherlene Wiseman of Athens; six grandchildren, Briana Wiseman, Austin Wiseman, Samuel Wiseman, Jason Whited, Michaela Whited and Scott Whited; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruby Patty of Sweetwater, and Christine and Howard Runyon of Athens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim Barnett of Sweetwater, Ernest Wiseman of Cleveland, Lloyd and Ethylene Wiseman of Charleston, and Esta Wiseman of Houston, Texas; his mother-in-law, Bernice Frye of Tellico Plains; and many beloved extended family members.
The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Charles Hunt officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park with full military honors.
