Sports Journalist, Author. A trailblazing figure, she was among the earliest of females to cover a professional sports team, when she was assigned to the Toronto Blue Jays from 1979 until 1984. Born Alison Ruth Gordon, her father (a Canadian) held a position with the United Nations, she traveled a great deal during her youth. She studied at Queen's University, prior to landing her first job with CBC Radio and Television. She moved on to the Toronto Star and became a regular reporter who covered the Toronto Blue Jays.
