Sent to the City Farm

Miss Charlotte O'Dell Will Be Cared For

"Miss Charlotte O'Dell, the octogenarian, who was found wandering about the streets of Allegheny Wednesday, was sent to the Allegheny City home yesterday by the department of charities. Miss O'Dell is 88 years of age, and for the past 10 years has resided with a family on Rebecca Street, Allegheny. She came to Allegheny from Gettysburg, Pa., and when she arrived in the city she had some money, but it is all gone now. She told the charity department that she was once quite well off, and for years ran a flourishing millinery establishment in Gettysburg.

She never married for the reason that when she was young she was engaged to a young man who died shortly before they were to be married and she had always remained true to him. She has two grandnices [sic] living in Bellevue, Mrs. Jane Taylor and Mrs. John Wills, She possess good health for a woman of her advanced age, and has now her second sight”
