JAMES FLIPPIN married ISABEL BROWN, September 24, 1807, in Barren County, the daughter of Hugh and Nancy Brown. They had nine (9) known or surviving children: Rholoy Madison, Pleasant, Permelia Ann (Fraim), Hugh Brown, James McAdoo, Thomas Jefferson, Nancy Jane (Lee), Joseph Alexander, and Rhoda Isabel (Dunn).


Their children have confirmed or calculated gravesites in Fraim Cemetery except for the following: Nancy Jane (Flippin) Lee (d. ca. 1893) is believed buried in Lee-Sadler Cemetery near the gravesites of her husband and only child. The marked gravesite of Hugh B. Flippin (d. 1882) is in Allen County, Kentucky. Thomas J. Flippin (d. 1859) died in Macon County, Tennessee, and is presumed buried there. The gravesite of Joseph A. Flippin (d. 1855) has not been identified.
