Rock Musician, Songwriter. He was the frontman, lead vocalist and songwriter for a string of prominent rock bands, most notably "Stone Temple Pilots" and "Velvet Revolver." In 1989, he formed the band "Stone Temple Pilots" with Eric Kretz (drums) & brothers, Robert (bass) and Dean DeLeo (guitar), seeing huge commercial success in the 1990s. In 1993, their debut album 'Core' (1992) peaked at Number 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart followed by an even bigger achievement the following year, when they released their second album 'Purple' (1994), which would reach Number 1. Infighting would eventually drive the band apart, leading to several hiatuses just a few years after reaching the height of their popularity, during which Weiland participated in several side projects. In 2002, he joined former "Guns N' Roses" members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum in a supergroup called "Velvet Revolver." They released an album called 'Contraband' in June 2004 and another in 2007 called 'Libertad', the last to feature Weiland on vocals. He would release several solo albums, including '12 Bar Blues' (1998), 'The Most Wonderful Time of the Year' (2011) and 'Blaster' (2015). His most recent side project was Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts.
