Jazz Vocalist. Born Beatrice Weinsier, she learned to play the piano during her youth, prior to her performing on the radio program "The Children's Hour." She fronted her own ensemble "Bea and the Bachelors" and acquired experience on such radio programs as Kay Thompson and Fred Waring. When Larry Clinton, who arranged for Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey formed his own group, Bea joined him as his lead vocalist and during this period, she enjoyed commercial success with such hits as "Cry, Baby Cry", "Deep Purple", "Heart and Soul" and "My Reverie", all achieving number one status in the United States. In addition to her recordings, she became a popular figure on the radio program "Your Hit Parade." She was married to radio announcer Andre Baruch. She died from congestive heart failure at the age of one-hundred.
