GUY BLACKWOOD
CARTHAGE, Mo. - Guy Blackwood, 64, 430 West Chestnut St., died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday at McCune-Brooks Hospital where he had been a patient since July 5. He had been in failing health the last three months.
Mr. Blackwood was born June 19, 1911 at Jasper, Ark. He came to Carthage in 1944 from Amarillo, Texas.
He married Maxine Thompson Aug. 19, 1944 at Columbus, Kans. She survives. Mr. Blackwood owned and operated the Alamo Package Shop here. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge.
Her served as a civilian flight instructor for the U.S. Army at Amarillo during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Guy Thomas Blackwood and Jackie Blackwood, both of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Sharyn Wilkerson, Claremore, Okla.; four sisters, Mrs. R. C. McLaughlin, Springfield and Mrs. R. V. Giersch, Mrs. Ellis R. Thomas and Mrs. Clarence D. Holt, all of Amarillo, and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ulmer Funeral Home. Bob Lytle, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
