Freda L. Branson, 92, of Amboy died May 9, 2008 at the Franklin Grove Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with Rev. Frank Brozenec, pastor of the East Grove Union Church officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Lunch will follow at the East Grove Union Church. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, May 12 at the funeral home.

Ms. Branson was born July 8, 1915 in Pana to Steve and Estella (Snow) White.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley (John) Ehman of Maryland; two sons, Wayne Smith and Wilbur Smith, both of Amboy; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one brother, Earl Oiler of Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Ellen McLindsay; one son, William Darwin Smith; two sisters, Ellen Renner and Eva Mae Oiler; three brothers, Dillard Oiler, Leo Oiler and Bob White.

Ms. Branson had worked at the Lee County Nursing Home in Eldena and was also involved in the grandparent program at Amboy Central School for 18 years, retiring in 1996.
She was my grandmother.
