Thief River Falls - Lloyd Bernhardson, 76, died Sunday, January 16, 2000 at Dakota Heartland Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 21 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist with Rev. Eric Heskin officiating. Linda Kastl was the organist, and vocal selections were presented by Erica, T.J. and Kya Kastl and Linda Kastl. Casketbearers were Mark Bernhardson, Jacob Bernhardson, Tom Kastl, John Besserud, Robert Strandberg, Joshua Bernhardson and Bret Baker. Burial will be in the spring at Bethesda Cemetery in Strandquist. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Lloyd Donald Bernhardson was born on April 9, 1923 in Marshall county, the son of Jonas and Ester (Gustafson) Bernhardson. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church. He attended school and grew up in Strandquist. He farmed near Goodridge and worked in sales with Krop King Seed Company in the Goodridge-Thief River Falls area.
In 1955 Lloyd was united in marriage to Ruth Sorenson at Camp Joy near Vergas. The couple lived in Thief River Falls. Later he married Eva Kopecky.
Survivors include one son, Mark (Debra) Bernhardson of Cloquet; one daughter, Linda (Tom) Kastl of Northwest Angle; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Bruce of Strandquist and Orpha (William) Wolfe of Karlstad.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents.
