Daniel Arlington Renstrom, the son of the late Erick and Ellen (Tell) Renstrom, was born on January 14, 1919, in Nelson Park Township of Marshall County, near Strandquist, MN.

He attended school and grew to manhood there, and was baptized and confirmed at the Mission Church at Strandquist. Danny served with the U.S. Navy from Sept. of 1942 until Dec. of 1945, serving in the Pacific Theater.

Following discharge, he returned to Strandquist, and on Nov. 6, 1945, was united in marriage to Gloria Thompson at Rochester, MN.

Danny farmed with his brother, Willard, near Strandquist until 1959 when they moved to Karlstad. He was employed for many years by Leonard Thompson Construction of Karlstad and for many years after that doing various projects in the area.

He was a long-time member of Bethesda Lutheran Church of Strandquist, serving on the church council and as a Sunday School teacher. He was also a long-time member of the Karlstad Fire Dept.

He has resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center for the past two years, and passed away there on Wed. morning, Jan. 28, 2009, at the age of 90 years and 9 days.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; six daughters: Ellen Johnson, of Karlstad; Margaret (Rolland) Deschene, of Argyle; Jane (Richard) Schmink, of Genoa, IL.; Lynn (Denal) Grahn, of Thief River Falls; Roberta (Jeffrey) Nyquist, of Nisswa, MN.; and Barbara (Terry) Visness, of Drayton, ND; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, two sons: Daniel, Jr., in 1982 and Peter in 1961, 2 brothers: Willard and Leo, and two sisters: Elvera and Thelma.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2009, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist. Military honors will be accorded by the Karlstad American Legion Post.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m.. Friday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Collins Funeral Chapel, Karlstad, and at the church one hour prior to services Saturday morning. Interment will be in Bethesda Cemetery near Strandquist.
