Gladys Rud, 76, died Monday, February 24, 1997 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Arrangements were with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 1 at Bethesda Lutheran Church of Strandquist with Rev. Doug Norquist officiating. Burial was in Bethesda Cemetery of Lincoln Township, Marshall County.

Casketbearers were Sven Hjelle, Larry Johnson, Lester Johnson, John Lofstrom, Lenny Lofstrom and Mike Rehm.

Rose Gladys Johnson was born on April 6, 1920 in Strandquist, the daughter of John and Ragna (Erickson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Bethesda Lutheran Church of Strandquist. She received her schooling in the Sunnyside School in Marshall County. She was united in marriage to Calmer Rud on October 19, 1938 in Strandquist. The couple farmed and raised their family in West Valley Township, Marshall County.

She is survived by her husband Calmer; sons Ronnie (Karen) Rud of Newfolden, Weslie (Eunice) Rud of Strandquist, and Duane (Diane) Rud of Thief River Falls; daughters Marlene Wikstrom of Minneapolis and Judy Lubarski of Hopkins; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters Mable Olson of Kennedy and Eunice (Louie) Lofstrom of Strandquist.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Darlene Rud; parents; brothers Rudolph, Lloyd, Wilfred, Hjalmer, Roland and Melvin Johnson; sister Maxine; and grandchildren Kelly Wikstrom and Kyja Rose Rud.
