Wallace Onger, 77

Wallace Clifford Onger passed away unexpectedly at the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls on Sunday evening, February 1, 1998, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 9 days.

Wallace, the son of the late Gustave and Hilma (Johnson) Onger, was born on November 22, 1920 at Strandquist, Minnesota. He grew to manhood there and graduated from Strandquist High School in 1940. He was baptized and confirmed at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist, and in May of 1956 was united in marriage to Jeanette Monjeau at St. Paul, Minnesota. Since their marriage, the couple has lived and farmed in Lincoln Township of Marshall County, east of Strandquist, with the exception of four years spent at St. Paul. Wally was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; one son: W. (D.); one daughter: R. Keiser; two grandsons: J. and J.; one brother: Bert (Hilda) of Tucson, Arizona; one sister: Hildur (Lloyd) Yoraway, Escondido, California; in addition to several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held at 10a.m. Thursday, February 5, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Strandquist, with Pastors Erling Huglen and Dale Rosette officiating. Ellen Johnson was organist and Corienne Jacobson was vocalist. Casket bearers were: J. Morrell, T. Nelson, D. Carlson, D. Monjeau, T. Monjeau and J. Morrell. Interment was at Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery, Strandquist.

Arrangements with Collins Funeral Homes of Karlstad, Greenbush and Middle River.
