US MARINE CORPS WORLD WAR II

Donald Eugene Fleetwood enlisted in the Marine Corps 9 September 1940 from Fort Dodge, Iowa. Qualified as a Rifle Marksmen and completed recruit training 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, MCB San Diego. 9 November 1940 assigned Sea School, MCB San Diego.

22 January 1941 departed NAS San Diego Military Air assigned same day Marine Detachment, USS Arizona (BB-39), at Pearl Harbor. 17 October 1941 promoted to Private First Class.

7 December 1941 Killed in Action during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Body not recovered or identified.

Next of Kin: Sister, Miss Dorothy Fleetwood, 1403 3rd Avenue North, Fort Dodge, Iowa. Parents, Mr Claude A and Mrs Elizabeth F Fleetwood.
