PFC Owen Webb Craddock was a member of the extraordinarily heroic 1rst Marine Division. Their combat at Guadalcanal halted Japanese expansion. Without them it is possible Japan might have conquered Australia and become undefeatable.

Company C, 1rst Battalion 5th Marines , 1rst Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force.

He had been an outstanding athlete at his Camden High School and President of the Student Council. He enlisted in January 1942, shortly after Pearl Harbor. His parents had received a letter from him written from Guadalcanal October 23rd 1942, a week before his sacrifice --- edited from Angola Herald Dec 11th 1942 Friday Page 10.
