Professional Wrestler. He was an American professional wrestler who was a six-time World Heavyweight Professional Wrestling Champion. Regarded by many as the greatest wrestler of all time, he was active in the sport for several decades, dating from 1932 to 1990. In 2002, he was inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame as a Pioneer Era inductee. In 2016, Thesz was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame via the Legacy Wing. Debuting at age sixteen, he began wrestling at age eight with his father, who had been a champion Hungarian wrestler. In 1952 he captured the original World Heavyweight Championship belt. Although not in consecutive days, Thesz would be NWA World Champion for a total of 3,749 days, or over ten years, and placed first in the number of days of holding the coveted title. In the 1980s, his career settled into a more part-time role, while at the age of over 60 years old. His final match was in Japan in 1990, but he continued to train after leaving the ring. In 2001 he published his autobiography, "Hooker: An Authentic Wrestler's Adventures Inside the Bizarre World of Professional Wrestling."
