Dr. J.H. McCracken, one of the veteran physicians of Palo Pinto County came here "on a visit" to his brother, John McCracken, who had a school in progress and while on the visit, was persuaded to stay and make his home. He traveled on horseback as there were few roads passable for a buggy and carried his medical supplies in saddlebags.
Dr. McCracken married Sue Wilson, daughter of a pioneer couple and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before his death.
