Mrs. Martha Lundstrom

Mrs. Martha Katarina Lundstrom, "Grandma Lundstrom," the oldest member of the Bethesda church in Strandquist, died last Sunday night [2/06/1927] at the Lundstrom home in her 95th year of life.

Mrs. Lundstrom was born March 25, 1832 in Tasjo, Angermanago, Sweden. She was married to Johan Jacob Lundstrom 70 years ago in May, came to this country in company with her husband, son and son's wife, Mrs. Anna Lundstrom, and the latter's two small children in 1888. Eleven years later her husband died, thus preceding her in death 27 years and 15 days.

The Lundstrom family was among the charter members of the Bethesda church when it organized in 1894. With Mrs. Lundstrom's demise only 9 charter members remain among the present membership of the church. Her home was often opened in those early days with hospitality to the visiting pastors as well as to friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Lundstrom was until the very last of a vigorous mind as well as physique. Only last summer she left her bed in an unguarded moment and walked out to the adjoining room. She knew her psalmbook and postil as well as the contents of the Bible practically by heart, and it is with assurance that her nearest ones think of her as having at last entered into the haven of rest toward which she has been looking and longing.

Mrs. Lundstrom is mourned by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Anna Lundstrom, six grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren as well as many neighbors and old friends.

The funeral took place yesterday [2/10/1927] from the Bethesda Lutheran church and interment in the Bethesda cemetery.

Note:
Anders Petter Lundstrom was Martha's only son, per his obituary.
