2nd Lieutenant Ellwood Q. Lindsay was a member of the 221 Marine Fighter Squadron led by Major Floyd Parks and based at Midway Island. He was killed in action while defending Midway against a far superior Japanese force on June 4, 1942. His body was lost at sea and never recovered.
Ellwood has a memorial marker in the Dingle cemetery and is also memorialized on The Courts of the Missing Memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii
