Alta LaRay Egbert was born on December 20, 1933 in Ogden Utah, to Ellen Elizabeth Trappett (Bonnie) and Arnold Belmont Egbert. She passed away peacefully on May 3, 2012 in Pocatello, Idaho, after a long battle with heart disease and diabetes. She spent her childhood on the family farm at Turner, Idaho near Grace. She was an only surviving child that spent her time at chores and playing with cousins. She married Phillip Harris Chugg Jr. It later ended in divorce. In time, met and married Kenneth Raymond Martin (Red). They and their combined family delighted in camping, fishing, and picnics. Alta chose to stay home and raised the family. Later in life she was employed at Kmart and then Ballard. Working outside the home became a great joy to her, and was very upset when health issues forced retirement. Mom enjoyed family gatherings, quilting, puzzles, pinochle, soap operas, reading, and dancing.
Alta is survived by her children, Janet Hencley (Skeet), Karl Martin (Shawna), Judy True, Cindy Neilsen (Kenneth), Linda Johnson (J.R.), William Martin, grandchildren, Helen Dawson (Harry), Yutonna Dawson, Tory True, Phillip Neilsen, (Nicole), Kenneth Neilsen Jr., Jeffery True, Ethan Martin , Michele True, Christopher Martin, James Martin, Michelle Lawrence, Great grandchildren, Diamond Brown, Cheyenne Brown, Mayzon Bernhardt, Kira Neilsen, Quentin Wilson, and Ember Neilsen.
Alta was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents Arnold and Bonnie, a sister Betty, and a great granddaughter Hunter.
Memorial graveside services will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello, Section 41 East.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home.
