FLORENCE — Carrie “Louise” Murphy Clemons, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2017, in her home at Lakeview Farm. She was born April 5, 1933, to John F. and Myrtle Marlar Murphy in the Second Creek community of West Lauderdale County where she was raised. She was a 1951 graduate of Waterloo High School and married Jack Clemons of the Rhodesville community on May 31, 1952. Jack preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 2016.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and crafts and was an active member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years.

She was also a member of the North West Alabama Chapter of the Red Cross.

Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home today from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Rick Ashley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Other than her husband, Louise was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Myrtle Marlar Murphy, and siblings, Mildred Perkins and Floyd Murphy.

Louise is survived by her children, Regina Clemons Gresham (Jeff), of Florence, Harold W. Clemons, of Keller, Texas, and Gail Clemons Sutherland (Lane), of Florence; brothers, Earl, Raymond, and J.W. “Sonny” Murphy; sister, Mary Ruth Farley; grandchildren, Bryan Cabler (Wendy), Adam Cabler, Tiffany Cabler Daily (Russell), Jessica and Jeffrey Gresham, and Lauren, Leah, Jason and Jonathan Clemons; great-grandchildren, Jackson Cabler, Norah and Camille Daily, and Major Gresham; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Known as “Nanny” to her nine grandchildren, she faithfully and tirelessly aided and inspired them and gave unwavering encouragement to all their pursuits.

Arrangements are by Greenview Funeral Home.
