Terry L. Weger, 70, of Tehachapi, passed away on Oct. 19, 2017, in Tehachapi.
Terry was born in Bishop, Calif., to Joy Allen and Jeff Weger on Jan. 12, 1947. He was a graduate of Bishop Union High School and a veteran, having proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Terry moved to Tehachapi in 1988 and married his wife, Debra, in 1998.
Throughout the years, Terry had many hobbies and talents, including woodworking, glass etching and jerky making. He was a proud member of AA, with 35 of years of sobriety. He celebrated this “birthday” every year, and proudly wore a gold bear and the roman numeral of the year of his sobriety around his neck, and loved to share his story with people. Those who know Terry, know he never met a stranger. He was cheerful and friendly and always found ways to connect with the people around him.
Terry is preceded in death by his father, Jeff Weger, and stepfather, Joe Allen.
Terry is survived by his wife of 19 years, Debra Weger, his beloved mother, Joy Allen, his brother Rich Weger, and sister-in-law Debra, brother Lester and sister-in-law Terri, daughter Stacey Lamerson, stepdaughter Nikki Cummings and husband Buddy Cummings, granddaughters Ashley and Kaitlin, Capri and grandsons Cruz and McCoy, great-grandchildren Kyler and Adeline and aunt Brandi Fleischmann.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thank you to Lorena Rodriguez, and her wonderful staff, at Tehachapi Manor and Hoffmann Hospice for their care and concern for Terry in his last few weeks. They were a blessing, especially Andrea “Andy” and Alejandra, who Terry had a special liking for.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at Mountain Aire Estates Community Center, on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 4 p,m., 600 S. Dennison Road. Food to be served.
