DANVILLE, Va. - Melvin Yoder, of 465 Woodlawn Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004. Born Oct. 16, 1907, in Danville, he was the son of Robert E. Yoder and Hagar Hunt Yoder. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and also a member of U.S. Calvary at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. He was a member of the Roman Eagle Lodge #122. He operated the Frosty Freeze and later was employed at Diston, Inc. until his retirement. He was married to Beulah Mansfield Yoder, who predeceased him on April 30, 1989. He is survived by one son, John Yoder of Danville; one daughter, Sue Y. Harris of Berryville, Va.; one sister, Virginia Trout of Fort Collins, Colo.; one brother, Julian Yoder of Colfax, N.C.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Willard Yoder and Harvey Yoder. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Robert Yoder officiating with Masonic rites given by the Roman Eagle Lodge #122. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Townes Funeral Home and at other times will be at the son's residence, 101 West Woodlawn Drive.
