Robert H. "Bob" Brandt, 88, of 1490 SR 643, Baltic, went home to be the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 2:15 p.m. at Walnut Hills Nursing Home with his family at his side.

He was born May 29, 1924, in Cleveland to the late Herman A. and Ella A. Fischer Brandt. In 1947, he married the late Ethel E. Pokorny in Cleveland. Bob served his country three years in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II.

He worked for 27 years as a bakery driver salesman for American Bakeries (Taystee Bread, Grennan Cake) in Cleveland and also for Nickles, Frito Lay, Tip Top and Schwabel bakeries. After 10 years with Hillside Dairy, he retired in 1987, moved to Holmes County and spent many good years transporting Amish folks in Holmes County.

He was a long time member of Friendship Mennonite Church, in Bedford Heights, until he became a member of Walnut Creek Mennonite Church where he served as an elder, Sunday School Superintendent and on other committees.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Lovina Troyer Brandt, whom he married June 13, 1987. Also surviving are his four children, Kathy A. (Vlado) Cerman of Ft. Collins, Colo.; Robert H. (Paulette) Brandt II of Macedonia; Daniel J. Brandt of Cuyahoga Falls; and Steven C. (Yvonne) Brandt of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Daniel J. (Deborah) Cerman of Ft. Collins, Colo., Paul (Amy) Cerman of Bremmerton, Wash.; Robert H. (Mary Kahl) Brandt III of Twin Falls, Jessica J. Brandt of Macedonia, Amber (Cesar) Torres of Tuscon, Ariz., April (Ryan) Moeritz of Tallmadge; one step-grandson Wayne Price of Phoenix; four great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren, one sister Gladys (Bill) Vetter of Cape Coral, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Russell Brandt.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church with Pastors Ross Miller and Dan Owalabi officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church and on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to services.

Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
