Tom F. Miller, 85, of Cherry Ridge Dr., Sunday, July 28, 1996, in Altercare of Millersburg. Born May 4, 1911, in Holmes County, he was a son of the late John C. and Clara Zaugg Miller. Tom was known for his work as a renowned artist and master carver. He was responsible for developing Sugarcreek into the Little Switzerland of Ohio. Many of his paintings and murals can be seen throughout the surrounding area, as well as out of state. He spent his life dedicated to the work he loved. He will long be remembered by the legacy of his artwork which he leaves behind for others to enjoy. He was a member of Walnut Creek Mennonite Church. His wife, Mary Miller Miller, whom he married June 6, 1936, died Feb. 21, 1994. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Jackie Miller of Wooster; a daughter, Rose Ressler of Hartville; grandchildren, Scott Ressler of Hartville and Mrs. Rick (Angie) Howard of Mansfield; and a great-grandson, Erich Howard of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul, and a sister, Arlene. Services will be held Wednesday, July 31, 1996, at 11 a.m. in Walnut Creek Mennonite Church with Rev. Ross Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in Butler-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek and Wednesday from 10 to 11 in the church. Memorials may be made to Walnut Creek Mennonite Church Memorial Fund.
