M. Dale Schrock, 84, of 5698 state Rt. 515, Millersburg, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Walnut Hills Retirement Home.
He was born May 22, 1926, in Holmes County to the late J. Albert and Ruth (Mast) Schrock. He was retired from Horrisberger Implement at Walnut Creek where he was service manager and was a former service manager at Ray C. Call at Strasburg. He was a former member of Walnut Creek Mennonite Church and NewPointe Church and was currently attending Harvest Church of the Nazarene at Sugarcreek, was a former member of the East Holmes School Board and had served as president, former member of Buckeye Vocational School Board, owned and operated his own airplane, was a member of the New Philadelphia Flying Club, and loved to go fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha (Funk) Schrock, whom he married March 20, 1948; his four children, Joyce Mahaffey of Dover, A. Dean (Karen) Schrock on Vinton, O., Jim (Linda) Schrock of Lowpoint, Ill., and Duane Schrock of Fresno; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Lucie (Lowell) Nofziger of Wadsworth; and brother-in-law, Harry (Ruth) Gerber Jr. He is preceded by three sisters, Doris, Carolyn and Lauretha.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church with Pastors Jerome Bell and Don Hamsher officiating. Family burial will be held at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery prior to the services. Callings hours will be Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Smith- Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
