Jef was the oldest of 6 daughters born to Mort and Lois Brown. She married her high school boyfriend Gregory Paul Lawson on Aug.31, 1974. They have two children. Amie Lyne Lawson born Nov.28 1976 and Grant Paul Lawson born Oct 19 1978.
Jef was a very loving, very caring and very honest person. Also with a name like Jef for a girl she had a great sense of humor. (She laughed when she as a high school freshman got assigned to the boy's P.E. class. She laughed when she got registration papers for the draft. )
Jef died of cancer. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 28. After 18 months of aggressive treatment she was given a clean bill of health. In 2007 at the age of 52 she was again diagnosed with cancer. Her doctors said it was a "dumb"slow growing form that could be treated and controlled, but probably not cured. In Jef style she wanted to treat it aggressive. This she did for 6 years. But in Dec. 2012 that slow growing "dumb" cancer got smart and fast. There were no more treatments to be done. Jef passed away Wed. March 13 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Most notably her husband Greg who did not leave her side the last 5 days of her life. Greg said at her memorial, "The last words she said to me before she fell into a deep sleep Sunday night was "I love you." Jef loved everyone she met. She always greeted everyone with a big smile and hug. "I am not a hand shaker. I am a hugger".
Jef lived long enough to see the birth of her two grandchildren, Madisyn Lynn Lawson born May 2009 and Parker Bryan Lawson born Feb 2011. She was their "Grams".
Jef is also survived by her parents, 3 sisters,Kyle,Lori and Traci, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and an abundance of friends. She will also be missed by her dog Hero. Who laid by her feet the last few days of her life.
She is joined in Heaven with her two sisters Kris De and Kelli Dee Brown, whom both succumbed to Cystic Fibrosis years earlier. And other numerous family members.
Every letter, note or card Jef sent she always signed it "your favorite" be it daughter, sister, aunt or friend. And she wasn't wrong. Because she always made that person feel like they were her favorite too.
Jef has a lot of catching up to do in heaven with her family there. But she will be missed everyday here on earth.
