PFC Wade Taste, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Cerro Gordo, North Carolina.

Private First Class Wade Taste was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, PFC Taste served our country until May 21st, 1966 in South Vietnam. He was 18 years old and was not married. It was reported that Wade died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine during Operation Crazy Horse, defending Landing Zone Hereford, East of Vinh Thanh. His body was recovered. Wade was born on July 29th, 1947 in Cerro Gordo, North Carolina. PFC Taste is on panel 07E, line 099 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

A Special thanks to Larry Baxter who helped with research of the Columbus County, North Carolina soldiers, and helped with the Traveling Vietnam Wall when it came through Whiteville.

He was the son of Mr and Mrs William Taste, Route #1, Cerro Gordo, NC.

He served with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division(Air Mobile),
USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
