This memorial is dedicated to my third great grandfather, he was the son of James T. & Susannah (Armstrong) Oliver. He married first Zerilda Isophena Dunn on Nov. 23, 1852 in Caldwell County, Kentucky. Their children was Moses Henry, Mary Marie, Susan Jane, Simon Alexander,Seilda Isophena, John, Jasper, James Thomas, Walter A., Lynn Boyd and Lucy.
Zerilda passed away on July 27, 1884 and is buried in the Oliver-Jones Cemetery in Lyon County, Kentucky
John Paul second marriage was to Martha J. Oliver, they married on September 28, 1886 in Lyon County, Kentucky. They had one child Tennie Oliver. Martha passed away in 1903.
John Paul's third and last marriage was to Loueliza Amanda Morgan on Dec. 29, 1904 in Lyon County, Kentucky. There was no children born to this union.
It is written in the family bible that John Paul was paralyzed in his right arm after being struck by lightning and that he had a stoke.

After the untimely deaths of Moses Henry and his wife Nancy Elizabeth Oliver, John Paul raised his grandson Henry Melvin Oliver.

I asked my grandmother Adel Oliver Duckworth if she remembered if any of her Oliver relatives served in the civil war. She giggled and told me that her grandpa J.P told her that when the army (both sides) was coming that all the boys would run off to the woods and hide until the danger was passed. My grandmother was ninty-eight when she told me that and as far as I know John Paul did not serve in the war.
