Anna Jean Hanscom was a daughter of Austin Brewster Hanscom and Cecil Louise Crane. She was sister to Winifred, Louise and Richard Hanscom. She graduated from the Western Reserve School of Nursing in 1935. On February 5, 1937 she married Matthew Charles Rossiter in Cuyahoga County, Ohio and was the mother of John and Charles Rossiter. After the death of her husband Matthew in 1985 she married Herbert T. Barnes. Jean and Herbert spent their time between Vestal, New York and Gainesville Florida until Herbert's death in 1998. After His death she returned home to Ohio and resided in Chardon.
