Russell- Alvah Lloyd Vinson, 69 of West Russell, died at 2:10 am today at the C&0 Hospital in Huntington after an extended illness. Mr Vinson was a retired C&0 Railway conductor.
Mr. Vinson was born October 22, 1892 at Wayne, W.Va., a son of Mrs. Recie Dempsay Vinson and the late J. B. Vinson. He was a member of the First Christian Church of God, West Russell, the Order of Railway Conductors, Smith Lodge No. 775, F & AM.
He had been employed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company since 1917 and moved to Russell from Logan, W..Va., in 1937.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Florida Shy Vinson; one son Donald Vinson of West Wood; one daughter, Mrs. Dolores Philpott of West Virginia; three sisters, Mrs. Vada Mullins, Huntington; Mrs C.G. Steele, Gallipolis, Ohio; Miss Estill Vinson, Huntington, and four grandchildren.
The Body is at Carman Funeral Home in Russell pending completion of funeral arrangements.
