James Derrick

James Elbin Derrick, 72, New Haven, W.Va., and formerly of Ravenswood died May 26, 2002, at his home.

He was born April 6, 1930, in Charleston, W.Va., a son of the late Elbin Cecil Derrick and Lucy Irene Martin Derrick. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the 82nd Airborne. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 5668 and American Legion Post 140 in New Haven. He retired from KACC in maintenance as a welder.

He is survived by his wife, Belva Jewell Derrick, of New Haven; two daughters, Jo Ellen Morgan of Ravenswood and Joyce Elaina Epling of Spencer; three grandsons, Ryan Hart Morgan of Ravenswood, Ethan Michael Epling of Spencer and Larry Michael Flowers of Zanesville, Ohio; two sisters, Nancy Wickline of Dunbar, W.Va., and Margaret "Peggy" Lucas of Columbia City, Ind.; one brother, John Derrick of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Virginia Edith Derrick; and two sisters, Norma Ragan and Arbutus "Boots" Bratton.

Services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Joann Clevenger and the Rev. Allen Stewart officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kibney Foundation or your local Hospice care.
