Eliyyahu David Arya was born Richard Smith On February 04, 1945 in Salinas, California, United States. He was born to Zeta Mae Smith. Unable to financially support him being she was young living at home an had a daughter. She consented to an adoption. He was adopted by George Charles Weight Sr. and Ruth Miriam Weight. George Sr. was a prominent policeman in Salinas. They allowed visits from Zeta and she would bring him small items. After awhile it is said that she voiced she would like to have him back. The weights hired a lawyer and moved to King City, California in order to sever the ties in 1950. Zeta was never to see him again. The Weights changed his name to George Charles Weight Jr. but called him Jimmy. Later they moved to the Santa Barbara, California area where Jimmy attended San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara. His classmates called him "Jim." After High School Jimmy had a band with some friends called "Jangle Group" they performed at Disneyland and other places. Jimmy changed his name to Jimmy Valves for professional reasons. He was a very accomplished trumpet player. He married Kathleen Lund in 1979. He recorded albums with some beautiful music, 'Walk On The Beach' is one. Later he moved to Victorville and changed his name once again. His adopted mother told him his biological mother was of Jewish faith, so he became Aliyah David Aryeh. I am Zeta Mae Smith Alaniz's niece and Zeta was never of Jewish faith. As far as I know she has always been a Baptist and is buried in a Baptist Church Cemetery in Alabama. Jimmy has a beautiful and talented Daughter who loves music as he did. He became ill and passed away due to heart complications. Your music will be missed by many Jimmy~RIP
