CW was the 1st Police Chief for the City of Birmingham, AL (serving from 1898-1901). He was the son of David Washinton Austin and Amanda.
Grandson of Davis Austin, Jr (1780-1845) and Elender Hill (abt 1797-abt 1852)
CW was married to the former Dora McIntosh and they had at least 3 children, Conrad, Louise, and Edward.
