Widow, 74, Dies at Berlin Home Tuesday following Long Illness

Mrs. Christian Hummel, 74, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at her home in Berlin after a long illness.

Amanda Jane Miller was born July 3, 1876, a daughter of Isaac and Lydia Erb Miller, and was married Oct. 20, 1894, to Christian Hummel, who died May 18, 1926. She was a member of the Berlin Mennonite church.

Surviving are four sons, Ray of Millersburg, William Isaac and Paul, both of Berlin, and Dean of Kent; three daughters, Mrs. Horace Mitten, Millersburg; Mrs. Paul Miller of Smithville, and Mrs. Fannie Troyer of Charm; one sister, Mrs. Sam Weaver of near Baltic; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the residence in Berlin, followed by rites at the Walnut Creek church at 10:30, with Rev. D. D. Miller and Rev. Simon Summers officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Creek church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hunter funeral home in Millersburg Wednesday evening. The body will be removed to the residence Thursday afternoon and friends will be received there Thursday afternoon.
