Jerry C. Zamrzla, 91 years of age, a longtime resident of the Mantua-Shalersville areas, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Maison Aine in Stow, Ohio. Born on May 25, 1917 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles and Antonette (Kubik) Zamrzla. Formerly of Maple Hts. he was employed for over 40 years at Eaton Corporation as a grinder in the Axle Division. Jerry was also employed at the South Euclid-Lyndhurst School System. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Jerry played in local Polka Bands in the greater Cleveland area for many years and also enjoyed his birds and dogs as he was truly a lover of animals. He was a member of The Church of St. Clare. Survivors include his children, Gerald C. (Nancy) of Chardon, Robert M. "Bobby" and Priscilla (Thomas) Behnke both of Shalersville,Charles (Lesia) of Concord and Michael W. of Lakewood; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great ­grandchildren and his dear longtime friends, Flo and Leo Hornik and their family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia I. (Higgins) Zamrzla in 1992 and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M.at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where prayers will be said Monday at 9:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, March 16, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua with Rev. Fr.Michael Garvey officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon where full military honors will be observed. Donations are suggested to the Cleveland Clinic Life Banc. .
