BLAKELY Clifford John Blakely, Sr. Died Monday, November 28, 2005 at W. Frank Wells Nursing Home in Macclenny, Florida.

He was born September 25, 1940 in Quincy, Florida, and moved to Macclenny in 1947. John graduated from Baker County High School in 1958, and attended Florida State University. John worked at Northeast Florida State Hospital until his retirement in 1990. He then worked at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, Giddens Security Jacksonville, and Pineview Chevrolet, Macclenny. John's last employment was at the Baker County High School where he taught Criminal Justice in the Law Academy. At the time of his passing, John was a member of the Board of Directors of the Baker Medical Services, Inc. During his lifetime John was actively involved in many community activities such as Little League Baseball, where he umpired the first Little League Baseball game in Baker County. He also refereed Football, Basketball, and organized PAL Boxing. John was most notably known as the "Voice of the Wildcats" for Baker County High School Football.
John was preceded in death by his father, Manny Buford Blakely, mother, Colleen Elizabeth Greene, stepfather Edgar Greene, Jr., grandparents, John Thomas and Clifford Elizabeth Smothers, and aunt, Ressie Kirkland Niver.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Tonnie McPhatter Blakely; sons, Clifford John Blakely, Jr., Melbourne, Florida; Jim (Allison) Blakely, Valdosta, Georgia; sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Greene Taylor, Macclenny; grandchildren, Jimmy, Bailey, Gabe, and Tatum.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the FERREIRA CHAPEL with Pastor John Hay officiating. Internment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Florida. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. The services are under the care of V. TODD FERREIRA FUNERAL SERVICES, 250 North Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida (904) 259-5700
