Ruth was born on 18 August 1901 in California; died on 16 April 1980 at Sacramento Convalescent Home, Sacramento, Sacramento Co., California; was buried with her parents at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Mausoleum, Colma, San Mateo Co., California [California, San Francisco Area Funeral Home Records, 1895-1985].

She married first Elmer John GRIFFIN, a nationally-known tennis player on 20 August 1931 at Reno, Nevada. They divorced there within a year on 27 February 1932.

Ruth married second Carleton Edward FLINT about 1938.

Tennis Star Weds in Reno
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 21., [1931]—Elmer J. Griffin, internationally known tennis star and former San Franciscan, was married in Reno last night to Miss Ruth L. Turner, daughter of Mrs. J.T. Turner, 2626 Vallejo street. The bride is a graduate of the Hamlin school and Stanford university and studied art and music abroad for several years. Her father, the late J. T. Turner, was widely known as the owner of a chain of theaters. She and Griffin, now a New York stock broker, met in a New York two years ago upon her return from Europe. Yesterday they drove from here to Reno for the wedding, which was witnessed by the bride's mother and a brother and sister, Talton and Virginia Turner. Griffin is a graduate of St. Ignatius college and a member of a famous tennis family. One brother, Clarence Griffin, is a former national doubles chamption and another, Mervyn Griffin [father of the famous TV entertainer Merv Griffin], also is noted in tennis circles. Griffin has held numerous championships and lately coached Mrs. Helen Wills Moody for her present championship campaign. RENO, Feb. 27, (U.P.)--Mrs. Ruth L. Turner Griffin, daughter of a prominent San Francisco and Los Angeles family, obtained a divorced today from Elmer J. Griffin, noted California tennis player.
