Helen Faye Harding, age 71, of Keota, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at her home following a sudden illness. Helen was born December 15, 1933, in Keota, to Kenneth Edward and Edna Glee (Page) Holmes. She graduated from Keota High School and received a B.S. in Home Economics from Iowa State University in 1956. On September 5, 1954 she married Joseph St. Clair Harding, Jr. in Keota. The couple moved to Keota in 1970, where Helen taught Home Economics until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the United Church of Faith, T.T.T. and the Des Moines Garden Club and served on the Wilson Memorial Library Board. Helen enjoyed shopping, teaching, crafts, sewing, traveling, playing cards and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Joe in 2003 and three sisters: Barbara Stoner, Marilyn Smith and Margaret Starcevich. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the United Church of Faith in Keota with Pastor Sallie Graves officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Wilson Memorial Library. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is handling the arrangements.
