1929-1960
Auto Victim Buried Friday Services Held At River For Nancy Sparks, 31 Nancy Wallen Sparks, age 31, died instantly at 1:40 p.m., July 19, in an automobile accident which occurred in the "Narrows" just South of Paintsville. Mrs. Sparks was the daughter of Ervin Wallen and Thelma Walters Wallen, Williamsport. She was born June 9, 1929 at Beaver, Ohio but had been a resident of West Van Lear for 8 months. She was a member of the United Baptist Church, and was a beautician by occupation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ora Sparks, May 16, 1960, when he died suddenly while at work. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Myralene Walters, Auburn, Ala. And Karen Gail Wallen at home, three brothers, Doug Wallen, West Van Lear, Edgar Poe Wallen, Ashland and David Wallen at home. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 22 at the River United Baptist Church with Cully Sparks, Elzie Banks and Everett Sloan as officiating ministers. Burial was made in the Ward cemetery at Williamsport.
