Frances Aide, 91, of Charleston, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Charleston Gardens. She was a graduate of Marshall University and extended her education at the University of Charleston. Frances was co-owner, with her sister Geneva, of Aides Department Store in Mt. Hope, WV. Frances started her teaching career at Williamson High School and later substituted for over 30 years in the Kanawha County school system. She was an usher at the Clay Center and a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral and the Fellowship of St. John the Divine. Frances loved the Lord with all her heart. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Westeen Aziz Aide, brothers, George, Ferris and Mitchell Aide, and sisters, Margaret and Lorena Aide. She is survived by her sisters, Geneva Aide of Mt. Hope, WV, Ruth Dolly Mathews of Columbus, OH, and her beloved 13 nieces and nephews, Richard Aide, Andrea Aide Pendleton, Mike Aide, Nancy Aide Gore, Gary Aide, Cherie Aide Austin, Terry Mathews, Corinne Mathews Heidmous, Kent Aide, Robin Aide Preston, Rhonda Aide, Mitchell Aide, Jr., Stephen Aide; special friend Becky Ofiesh and dearest childhood friend Libby Ofiesh. Frances will always be remembered for her love of God, many kindnesses to those in need, and sharp mind. Most of all, Frances will be remembered for her creative, imaginative stories about The Big Fat Rat which she told her nieces and nephews, always ending with a hearty laugh. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 1, 2011 at St. George Orthodox Cathedral with the Very Rev. Father Olof Scott and Father Stephen DeYoung officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, November, 30th at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home with Trisagion Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Special thanks to the staff at Charleston Gardens, most of whom were her former students who showered her with love, and also a special thanks to the caring heart of Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Hospice Care, or a charity of your choice. Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
