He was born in Scott County TN, November 13, 1879. He was married at Somerset, KY June 29, 1904 to Miss Jennie Barnes and they established their home at Herrin the same year. Later they lived at Johnston City and Ferges before moving to a farm near New Dennison in 1919. For more than 50 years he was a coal miner, employed at Jeffrey, South Side, Scranton, Black Briar and Old Ben mines. Mr. and Mrs. Adkins reared four children, Leon, Loren and LaSalle and Mrs. Lindell (Lila) King. Mrs. Adkins died in 1956. Mitchell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
